Voilà c'qu'elle dit à propos d'son départ :
"After much consideration I have chosen to leave Sirenia, but I will continue with music. The reason is, that we have too many musical differences, and I don't feel like it's the right band for me. I have had a great time in the band, lots of good experiences and only wish the best for the band in the future.

I want to send a big “Thank You” to all the fans for your support – you haven't heard the last of me!"

As a result of these circumstances Sirenia will have to pull out of the planned European tour with Therion. The show in Athens will be postponed until may 2008. You have our apologies for this, Sirenia will be back on the road next year. We will use the coming months to find a new singer, as well as composing music for our next album.

Y'a quelques jours j'ai vu que l'groupe avait trouvé une nouvelle chanteuse : Mariangela "Mary" Demurtas....
Elle est italienne.... physiquement j'la trouve pas très jolie..... moche presque.... :/
Et puis j'aime pas son look, on dirait une gitane et ça va pas du tout avec Tristania....
Reste à savoir si elle chante bien....

Mariangela Demurtas, aged 25, from the island of Sardinia, Italy, is the singer Tristania was looking, but did not dare hope, for.

The band was focusing on voice and talent when they went out looking for a new singer half a year ago. After a thorough search and many audtions, little did they know they would get all that, and more, in the form of Mary.

She's all about music - and metal to the bone. She has performed with several Italian bands, before finally joining up with Tristania. She lists her musical influences to include Janis Joplin, Diamanda Galas, Lisa DalBello, Lauryn Hill, Skin, Chris Cornell and Jeff Buckley.

An educated linguist, she has already moved to Norway and settled in Tristania's home town of Stavanger. Although this is not her first time living abroad (she studied for a year in the Dominican Republic at the age of 16), it's living proof of the dedication she brings to Tristania.

Mary brings a whole new dimension to the old as well as the new Tristania material. She is also a creative force, and the band will certainly find itself with yet another bright head when they work on new material.

She brings temperament and aggressiveness to the stage, sure to complement Østen nicely. She has experience from the theatre, in addition to having been in sports since she was but a child, both aspects which will surely add character to her stage persona.

Mary has arrived - and she can not wait to meet the fans on tour.

Les Valkyries

Les Valkyries, dans la mythologie nordique, sont des vierges guerrières, des divinités mineures dites dises qui servaient Odin, maître des dieux. Les Valkyries, revêtues d'une armure, volaient, dirigeaient les batailles, distribuaient la mort parmi les guerriers et emmenaient l'âme des héros au Walhalla, le grand palais d'Odin, afin qu'ils deviennent des einherjar. Ces héros sont destinés à se battre aux côtés d'Odin à la venue du Ragnarök.
L'étymologie de leur nom provient du vieux norrois valkyrja (pluriel : valkyrur), des mots val (abattre) et kyrja (choisir). Littéralement, cela veut dire « qui choisit les abattus ».

Interprétations
Il n'y a pas de distinction claire entre les Valkyries et les Nornes. Par exemple, Skuld appartient aux deux à la fois. De plus, dans le Darraðarljóð (lignes 1-52), les Valkyries tissent une tapisserie de guerre.
Dans l'art moderne les Valkyries sont parfois décrites comme étant de belles shieldmaiden montant des Pégases, ornées de casques et armées de lances. Cependant, le cheval de la Valkyrie était un kenning de loup, donc contrairement aux stéréotypes, elles ne montaient pas de Pégase. Leurs montures étaient plutôt des hordes de loups qui traînaient au milieu des corps de guerriers morts. Ces loups étaient de macabres combattants. Tandis que le loup est la monture de la Valkyrie, celle-ci semble être apparentée au corbeau, animal apparaissant fréquemment dans la mythologie nordique (notamment Hugin et Munin, les deux corbeaux perchés sur les épaules d'Odin). Volant au-dessus du champ de bataille et « choisissant » des corps. Les hordes de loups et de corbeaux ayant ainsi nettoyé les lendemains de batailles pourraient avoir été là pour servir de plus grandes causes.
L'origine des Valkyries en général n'est pas rapportée comme existante, mais plusieurs Valkyries connues semblent avoir des parents mortels.
Selon Bulfinch's Mythology (1855) de Thomas Bulfinch, l'armure des Valkyries "émet une étrange lumière clignotante, qui illumine les ciels nordiques, créant ce que les hommes appellent aurore boréale". Cependant, aucune de nos sources ne permet de le confirmer.

Valkyries principales
Freyja est considérée comme la première parmi les Valkyries. À l'instar d'Odin, elle reçoit dans son manoir Sessrumne à Folkvang la moitié des guerriers morts au combat, qu'elle guidera au combat le jour du Ragnarök.
Certaines Valkyries sont des personnages majeurs de mythes importants :
* Brynhildr apparaît dans la saga de Völsunga.
* Hildr apparaît dans la légende de Hedin et Högni, dans Ragnarsdrápa et dans les Eddas.
* Sigrdrífa apparaît dans Sigrdrífumál.
* Sigrún apparaît dans Helgakviða Hundingsbana II.
* Sváva apparaît dans Helgakviða Hjörvarðssonar.
* Ölrún, Svanhvít, et Alvitr apparaissent dans Völundarkvida.
* Thrúd est la fille de Thor.
D'autres Valkyries importantes pourraient inclure Gunnr qui apparaît dans Rök Runestone et Skögul qui est mentionnée dans une inscription en runes à Bergen, datant du XIIIe siècle.
